Google Adsense (For Many People the Best Affiliate Program)

The Adsense program from Google allows you to put text based ads presented by Google on your site from their extensive list of advertiser. Then you receive a commission from Google when someone clicks on those ads.

The great thing about the Google Adsense program is that you will receive an income month after month without doing anything other then just making an effective useful web site. For me it was a dream come too. All the work of finding the advertisers is done by Google and you benefit from the work that they are doing. All you do is receive the checks.

The weakness of most other affiliate programs is that even if someone clicks on a Graphic Banner Ad on your site, you don’t get paid for this. You only receive a payment if they buy something from the site that you send them too. Also there is often a limit before you get paid. You often don’t get paid until $100 is reach in income.

With some affiliate programs there may be 100 of potential advertisers, but the income from each company you put on your site is only paid to you when you read $100 for each individual company. In this way there unless you get a large amount of page views a day there is an excellent chance you will never get paid anything. I know when I tried them I never received anything in years.

With other affiliate programs advertisers benefit greatly because they win either way. If someone clicks on an ad on your site people look at their products. In some cases they will purchase then and they make a direct sale. You in theory get a percentage of the sale, but until you make the preset limit (usually $100) you don’t receive any money. Also the advertisers gain greatly by just having their ads on your site, which for them is free advertising, even if they do not click on their ads. People may also click on their ad and see the products, but if they don’t purchase anything, you do not get paid but they may come back at another time and purchase their products, but you do not get any income from this sale.

Of the affiliate program I tried Adsense was the first one that I actually made money from except for Amazon. Plus as the ads are similar to the information on your web site, the ads can be a useful resource for the readers of your web site. On top of that it is extremely easy to use. It is a guaranteed winner that I can highly recommend. The first month I used the program I received $250.

An excellent thing about the Google Adsense program is that most of the ads are text based and they receive much higher click through numbers than the traditional graphic banner ads. As recent studies have shown most people are basically conditioned to ignore Graphic Banner Ads. The Click Through Rate for Graphic banner ads is now well below 0.5 per page impression, which means that less than one out of every 200 persons will click on that ad.

The way the program works is to use the information Google compiles when they index your page and then it puts ads on your site that are similar to your page content. For instance with an India Travel Site (http://www. ) on the Rajasthan page there may be ads for “Travel Tours in India,” “Hotels in India,” “Rajasthan Shopping,” etc.

If you want you can type in key word so that competitive ads do not come up. You can also check what results combination of web pages get. For instance you can check to see how successful your “India Astrology” section is versus a section on “India Travel.”

Payment is judged by how many ads a person clicks on and the value of the ads. When a person clicks on various ads you receive different payment amounts depending on how much the advertisers bid on the key-words that caused the ad to come up. For some ads that are clicked you receive a few cents and for other you may receive thirty cents or more. The rate will vary depending on the value of what is being advertised and the rate of conversion to a sale.

Google keeps secret exactly what their system is for paying. One of the reason I am sure is to help stop people from abusing the system. For instance if someone knew that an ad would pay them 40 cents to click on it, you would want to click on it all day, or at least until Google kicked you off the system. Be forewarned that you can be certain Google has a system to kick people on the program if they abuse it.

There are two different section of the program. When people click on text based (sometimes graphics) banner ads you get receive a payment. This part of the program seems to pay much better and get more frequent hits.

The other way is to put a Google Search Box on pages of your site. I put the Google search on all my pages, as beside the revenue that you will receive from people using it, I also think it is a good facilities to the users. As far as I can see the way the Google search works on your pages is that when a person does a Google search on you page it then brings up a Google search result page. Then if someone clicks on the Sponsor Link options on that page you get a percentage of the advertising cost that Google receives. I have the search results come up in another window, so my site is still up when they close the Google search result window.

A very positive thing about this program is that it is done by Google. You benefit from the good name of Google, as people will naturally believe that the ad results are respectable.

I found on my own sites that the Ad Performance is bringing in around four time the results of the Search Performance, but the combination of the two is great.

It is very easy to use. All you have to do is to decide what format you want the Ad to be in. For instance large banner, small banner, a tower or an assortment of other choices. You then copy the HTML code for the ad that they give you and insert it onto your web page.

The ads then start to appear immediately on your web pages. The ads may not appear for an assortment of reasons. The main one being that Google has not indexed your pages yet. If Google has not indexed a page that their ads are on a few option may happen, one is that a public service ad is placed in the spot where the ad is located. Or the area may be blank and the text and pictures after the ad will be pushed down and there will be a blank space on the page.

Also if there are not enough Google ads choices for the subject of the page, then no ads may appear on part of the page. Sometimes if a particular page is not indexed properly then Google ads will appear that have nothing to do with the subject matter of the page.

One point to note is that at the present time Google only allows three banner or tower ads per page. If you want to put the maximum Google ads on a page you would want to use the large banner and tower options. To get an option of 12 sponsored Google ads on a page you could put a Leaderboard (728 X 90), which is a large banner ad at the top. You could then put a couple tall skyscraper banners which could add another 8 to 10 Google ads to your page.

The conclusion is that this is a great program where you are guaranteed results with very little work.
