The main Deity in this temple is Radha-Gopala, who is
on the center altar. On the right altar is a Deity of Nritta Gopala
or dancing Gopala-Krishna. On the left altar is seated Hans Bhagavan
(Jamsa Gopala). This temple is also known as the Brahma Chari Mandir.
This temple is a large artistically designed building.
The hall in front of the Deities can hold 2,000 people at one time.
This temple was build by Maharaja Giwaji Rao Scindia, in 1860. He
asked the Mahant (person in charge of the temple), Sri Giridhari Lall
Saranji Maharaja, who was the spiritual preceptor of the Maharaja’s
family, what was the indication of the presence of Lord Krishna in
the temple. His Guru showed him the right footprint of Krishna, which
was embedded into a marble slab on the floor. There is a wooden railing
in this temple, around this marble slab, to protect this footprint.
There is often a small lamp placed on this marble slab to distinguish
it from other slabs. The priests in this temple are very enthusiastic.
How To Get Here This temple is on the
same road as the Gopisvara Temple. It is a large temple, which is
hard to miss. If you just came out of the Gopisvara Temple, you make
a right and walk a few minutes, and it is on the right.
