Advaita Acarya stayed at this place while he was in Vrindavana. He discovered the Deity of Madana Gopala (later named Madana-Mohan) at the base of an old Banyan (vata) tree here. It is believed that the original tree has disappeared, and has been replaced by the present one. Advaita Acarya left Madana Gopala in the care of a brahmana in Mathura, named Purusottama Chaube. Advaita Acarya was the second important Bengali Vaishnava to visit Vrindavana.

The first being Madhavendra Puri.
There is a small temple here with Deities of Radharani and Madana Gopala. There are also deities of Advaita Acarya and his wife Sita Devi.
How To Get Here To get to this temple, if you just came down the stairways from the Madana-Mohan temple, you make a left and walk until the road ends after about 70m (200 feet). You make a right and the entrance to Advaita Vata is about 15m (50 feet) away, on the left hand side. From the outside it looks like someone’s house. There is a small sign over the doorway to the courtyard of the temple that says Advaita Vat.
