Taxi Companies
There is a big difference between the taxi drivers in
Vrindavana. Some can be very good and others can be horrible. You
can be given a driver to drive you around Delhi and the driver barely
knows how to get to Delhi, let alone knows where any place is located
in Delhi. So before you arrange a trip to either Delhi or Jaipur insist
that the driver that takes you knows the places that you are going
to. Also before you depart you should request that the driver does
not play any music or smoke. An experienced driver would not even
think to play any music or smoke. As a class, the drivers hired in
Vrindavana are not very good.
Also an important consideration is the quality of the
vehicle being used. You may want to ask to see the vehicle that you
will be using. Some vehicles may be fairly new, therefore more comfortable,
faster and less likely to break down, and others can be a total wreck.
Taxi Companies
Puran is a good, recommended driver. He can be contacted through ???
or ask at the ISKCON Guest House. Gopal and his brother (442-493???)
are also very good and know both Delhi and Jaipur.
Dinesh’s KB Travels (442-223) hires out taxis
for the Vrindavan area, Delhi, Jaipur and other places. To get to
his shop, if you are coming out of the main gate of the ISKCON temple,
you make a right and walk half a block. His shop is on the right.
He has been in business for years. You usually can hire a taxi from
here without any advance notice. I found his drivers to be fairly
good, but some can be really bad. Nandu is a good driver.
If you need a Sumo Jeep, Chandra Mohan Jaiswal is a
good driver. He can be contacted ???, across from the ISKCON temple
(office 442-996???; home 445-354).
