Menu: Great vegetarian hoagies and sandwiches. The mixed hoagie with veg corned-beef and bologni is excellent. Veggie chicken hoagie is made from soy. Tuna sandwich made with carrots. Veggie Philly Steak, veggie burgers and good Sweet-Potato Pie. Non-dairy cheesecake. Fresh juices.
Comments: Can add either regular or soy cheese to any sandwich. Service can be a bit slow (especially between 12 noon and 1:30 pm) because the place is very popular. Open since 1981. This is one of my favorites places and I have been here many times. This place is highly recommended for a quick meal.

Comments: With at least three entréechoices on this special menu there is something for everyone. This menu changes weekly with fresh seasonal dishes to tempt your palate. And always striving to please his guests, Chef Terry Owens, formerly of the Fountain Restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel and Rouge, will prepare special orders for his Vegan diners. I get many requests for Vegan dishes and I¹m happy to comply,² Owens states. He suggests calling ahead with special requests to allow plenty of time to prepare something delicious and appropriate. Owners Rich Podulka. and Jayson Taylor thought it was important to cater to an audience that is often ignored in restaurants that are not strictly Vegetarian or Vegan. Menu: The mock "shrimps" and "scallops" appetizers are authentic and great. Worth taking some to go. Pakoras, samosas, hummus, dal (lentil soup), exotic salads and pasta salad. Main dishes include Pepper Steak, Pasta Selerno, Sans Francisco Hills Kofta (vegetarian meatballs in marinara sauce with pasta), Mexico City Chili (chili with kidney and pinto beans in a spicy sauce with tofu), Steamed Vegetable Plate and Shrimp Fried Rice (mock shrimp with organic brown rice). You can get either brown or basmati rice. Stir-Fried Vegetables. Hawaiian Supreme (boy choy, dikon, snow peas, carrots, water chestnuts, broccoli with a sweet & sour sauce with rice) and Roma Eggplant Parmigiana. Vegan desserts such as chocolate cake and carrot cake.
Comments: Pleasant, friendly atmosphere. Everything is delicious. The food is great and the service is good. Highly recommended. Meet Hari, the manager, who is a good friend of mine. He is an incredibly nice guy. Classy place. Relatively unknown place because of its location. The neighborhood has changed greatly in the last couple years and is becoming a hip, cool area to visit. It is quickly becoming liking the eastern end of South Street.

Directions: This restaurant is on South Street at the junction of Broadway and South Street. If you are driving south from City Hall this place is a few shops to the right on South Street. South Street is one way coming onto Broadway. To park in front of the restaurant you need to go west on Lombard St (the street north of South St), then turn left at the next street (S 15 St), then turn left at the next street (South St) and this place is on the right at the end of the block.
