Old City and Godaulia Down the lanes in the old city there are several restaurants. Many of the hotels in the area have their own restaurants serving Indian, Continental and Chinese food.
Ganga Fuji, near the Golden Temple, is a small place that serves Indian, Chinese and Japanese food. A main dish is around Rs 30. They serve western breakfasts. It is popular in the evening when they have live classical Indian music.
Shanti Guest House has a rooftop restaurant with a great view of the Ganges.
Vishnu Rest House has a good view of the Ganges.
Yogi Lodge is a fairly popular place.
Keshari is one of the best places in the Dasaswamedha Ghat area. It has a good selection. It is down a small alley, off Dasaswamedha Ghat Rd.
Ayyar’s Cafe on Dasaswamedha Road serves South Indian vegetarian food. It is a small, cheap place.
Sunita Cafe, down a side road off Dasaswamedha Ghat, is a cheap vegetarian place with good Indian snacks and dosas.
Madhur Jalpan Grih on Dasaswamedha Road is famous for its sweets, as is Varanasi.
Jalyog, near the roundabout in Godaulia, has good cheap vegetarian meals and very good samosas.
Garden Restaurant is a cheaper rooftop place.
Mahendra Restaurant is a riverfront cafe with a few tables.
Aces New Deal Restaurant has breakfasts and snacks.
Yelchiko, a basement restaurant, is a popular place that serves Indian, Continental and Chinese food.
Temple Restaurant, on the 1st floor of the Hotel Ganges on Dasaswamedha Rd, has good western breakfasts, Chinese and Indian food. Main dishes are around Rs 35. There is a good view of the street below.

Cantonment Area  The Palm Springs Restaurant, in the Hotel India, has a very good Indian menu. A full meal cost around Rs 100. It is one of the better places in town.
Canton Restaurant, in the Hotel Surya, has Indian, Chinese and Continental food. The service is good and a main dish is around Rs 50.
Hotel Clark has a high-class restaurant.
Hotel Taj Ganges has a very good restaurant. Expensive.

Railway Station & Lahurabir Area
Most Welcome Restaurant, near the Tourist Bungalow, has western breakfasts and cheap meals
Winfa, Lahurabir, near Prakash Cinema, has good Chinese food.
Hotel Buddha has a garden restaurant that serves western breakfasts and meals.
Poonam Restaurant, in the Pradeep Hotel, serves Indian food. A main dish is between Rs 50 to Rs 100.
El Parador has Italian, Greek and Mexican food. Main dishes are Rs 100. It is a good place.
Sona Rupa, which is in the basement of a building across from the GPO, has good vegetarian food at a reasonable price. It serves South Indian and Chinese food.

Other The popular Sindhi Restaurant, Bhelupura area, near the Lalita Cinema, has good vegetarian food. To get there ask to go to the cinema, as the rickshaw drivers (Rs 20 from the old city) know the cinema, but not the restaurant.
Gujarati Restaurant, up a flight of stairs, across from the KVM Hotel, is a good clean place.
Hotel Barahdari, east of Lahurabir, at Maidagin, has a good Jain vegetarian restaurant.
