Niro’s,
MI Rd, is one of the most popular places in Jaipur. They serve good
Indian, Chinese and Continental food. High priced.
Golden Dragon Restaurant, on a side street near Niro’s,
has good Chinese food.
Rambagh Palace is an excellent setting for a meal.
A main dish in the main dinning room starts at around Rs 150. It is
an interesting place to eat.
Jaipur Inn has a rooftop restaurant with a good view of the city. It
is a good place to go during the sunset. The vegetarian buffet dinner
cost Rs 80.
Copper Chimney, near the GPO, has good Indian, Chinese and Continental
food. It is a pleasant place to eat with good service.
Pizza Hut, MI Rd, is part of the American chain. The
pizzas are as good as the ones you get in America, and the service is
very good. It is a good place.
The lunch buffet at the Mansingh Hotel, Sansar Chandra
Rd, is very good.
Chokhi Dhani is an ethnic village where you eat on
the floor with your hands on leaf plates. There is a good selection
of Rajasthani vegetarian food. There are traditional dance, music and
puppet shows. You can also get a camel ride here. Chokhi Dhani is on
Tonk Rd, 20km from Jaipur. This place can be visited on an evening RTDC
tour.
Where to Eat—Vegetarian
LMB, Johari Bazaar, is one of the better restaurants
in India. No onion or garlic is used in the cooking here. The Cordon
Blues Sizzler is the house specialty and is excellent, as are the mango
milk-shakes. It is well known for its famous Indian sweets. At night
there is live Indian classical music. It is a highly recommended place
(11.30 am to 3.30 pm & 7 to 11 pm full meal; snacks from 4 to 7
pm).
Natraj, on MI Road, has excellent Indian and Chinese
food (11 am to 2 pm & 7 to 10 pm).
Surya Mahal, next door is a recommended higher-class place, which has
very good Indian, Chinese and pizzas.
Annapurna, nearby behind Raj Mandir Cinema, has good
Gujarati dishes at economical prices.
Four Seasons, D-43 Subhash Marg, C Scheme, is a pleasant
vegetarian places with good South India and Continental food.
Swaad, Ganapati Plaza, MI Rd, has good Indian, Chinese
and Continental.
Woodlands, in the Hotel Meru Palace, Sawai Ram Singh
Road, is a first-class South Indian restaurant.
Canakya (376-161), on MI Road, is recommended by some
as being the best restaurant in Jaipur. It is a fancy place with excellent
food. The restaurant is very clean. The Special Sizzler is excellent.
Lassiwala, across the street from the Surya Mahal restaurant
on MI Rd, has lassis that many people recommend to be the best in India.
They are excellent. There is another lassi shop a few shops down from
this famous shop. The original Lassiwala is on the corner, to the left
of the other lassi shop and says Kishan Lal Agarwal on it.
